COPS at MOPs

Welcome back to our MOPs of Grove blog!

I hope you were able to join us at our 2nd morning meeting that took place last week. We had a great time eating some yummy food, getting to know other mommies, and learning about child safety in the car and how to keep our cars healthy with some basic mechanic advice.

We always start our meetings with some time to mingle and catch up with each other and of course dig into some breakfast.

Seriously, how good does this look?! Are you drooling, yet?

As Stacy shared in our Mommy moment - life is not meant to be lived alone! She encouraged us to introduce ourselves to someone and we believe that MOPs is such a great place to come to build relationships with other women who are just like you!

This is Officer Micah Stinnet. He was so nice to come to talk to us about child safety in the car and some general safety tips while on the road!

Here are a few notes from his talk!

Children in Oklahoma need to be in a car seat until the age of 6. Follow the guidelines of the car seat to make sure your child is in the proper seat for height and weight.
And no matter what... BUCKLE your kids UP!!

If you are traveling and out on the road in Oklahoma and you need some help,
dial *55 to get the highway patrol.
They can come help you change a flat tire - just pull over as far right as you can and stay in your car and wait for them to come and help you and at no cost.

Meet Mr. Chris Dudley from DoRight Auto

Mr. Dudley is an amazing man. He opened up his talk with prayer and tried to share as much of his wisdom as he could with all of us women.

He said preventative maintenance on a car is key. You can let it go or maintain it, just like life. He said the instruction manual for life is the Bible and for your car it is located in the glove box. He advised us not to ignore either manuals.

He said to make sure we are checking our oil between oil changes and before traveling. Walk around your car and make sure nothing is running out of it and that the tires look good.

He noted that all cars are different and that looking at the instruction manual is really key to know what your car needs and how it operates.

We appreciate both of these men taking the time out of their busy schedules to come and talk to us. It was very interesting and we all were given the chance to ask as many questions as we wanted.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Our MOPs leader, Melissa, shared with us many announcements for this month.

First, DON'T MISS THIS ONE!! :) Tomorrow is the first MOPs play date of the year! We are going to the Right Choices Corn Maze. PLAYDATE: Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch!

Hi Ladies! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Grab your mama friends and their kids, and join us this week!!

WHAT: PLAYDATE for everyone!

WHERE: Right Choices Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch, just 8.5 miles East of Grove (1161 manning road southwest city, MO 64863)

WHEN: Wednesday, October 9th - we'll meet at 9:15am in the parking lot of the Grove Christian Center, corner of Shundai Rd and Hwy 10 (across from the On Cue, out by the high school). Otherwise you can meet us at the pumpkin patch at 9:30am! You may stay as long as you like!

COST: $3 per person (except for babies who are too small to do anything). This includes the cow train, corn jump, hay ride, and other playground type stuff.

If you have never been out there before, let me assure you it is super fun and absolutely appropriate for out littles!! You can take strollers, a little difficult to maneuver in some ares, but worth it for infants! Make sure to check the weather, and pack accordingly! Sunscreen, jackets, snacks, and plenty of water! Definitely bring your camera, there is an abundance of great shots to be had! They do have an outside picnic area, and some of the moms plan to pack a lunch and head home right in time for afternoon naps!

Also, just a side note, cell phone service can be a little sketchy out there, so if you plan to go and end up running late, just let someone know before 9:30 so we can look for you!
